Introduction
Being a boardgames café we get to stock some of the best games in the world and, boy, is it fun. We often get asked what games people should choose when they visit our boardgame café especially if they don’t know how to play board games. Hopefully this article will help you find your next great game night!
7 Wonders
7 Wonders is a civilization building game that can be played by 2-7 players. Gameplay involves drafting cards and using them to build your civilization, both internally and externally. Each player chooses a faction at the beginning of the game, which grants special abilities and bonuses. To win, you must have the highest score at the end of three ages (rounds).
The game is simple enough for young players to understand but strategic enough that adults will enjoy as well! It’s also possible for players of any age or skill level to play together without feeling frustrated by their peers’ shortcomings—in fact, it’s encouraged!
Azul
In Azul, players are given a hand of cards with different colored marbles on them. They then use these to purchase other tiles that they’ll use to complete the board’s pattern. The more you buy, the more points you get! The game’s mechanics are easy enough for kids to understand and play, but there’s enough strategy involved that adults will enjoy it too. There are two ways you can win: either by being the first person to complete their pattern or by having the highest point total at the end of ten rounds (either way is fine).
There are multiple ways to play this game: solo against an AI player; one-on-one against another human opponent; in teams of two competing against each other; or even as part of a team playing together against another multiplayer team. Each mode is equally enjoyable so feel free to pick whichever suits your mood best!
If you’re looking for high quality components and something different from what everyone else has played before then Azul might be just what your boardgame collection needs!
Codenames
Codenames is a social word game with a simple premise and challenging game play. Two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents. Their teammates know the agents only by their codenames. The teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. Their teammates try to guess words of interest while avoiding those that are not part of the team’s strategy. This remains one of the best word games at our gaming café in dubai.
Dixit Odyssey
Dixit Odyssey is a game of imagination, creativity and storytelling. Players will be challenged to use their imaginations to tell a story, create a picture that matches the story, and make their story believable.
The first player draws from one of the six categories – element (fire, water), animal (crocodile or elephant), place (desert or city), emotion (anger), object (chair), person/character (superhero). He then gives clues about what they are drawing by describing it in one word only. The other players then try to guess the item being drawn by giving clues with two words instead of just one. The first person who guesses correctly gets awarded points based on how complex his own clue was: 1 point for being straightforward with no hints; 2 points for having some complexity in his clue but still not enough information; 3 points if he gives away too much information that someone can easily guess what has been drawn without having witnessed its creation firsthand. It might seem complicated when you start but is definitely a game you must pick when you are at our boardgames café next.
